The beginning was Bessy...

       The beginning of my whole breeding carrier started with my first own dog that was a female mixture of two types. Her name was Bessy and she was my life. I received it from my parents in the summer of 1989. It was my dream from early childhood to have my own pedigree and to breed. At that year my dream has come true. I received my little Bessy. She was black like the crow; her hair was gleaming while the sun was shining. I received her when she was just a 6-week-old puppy. The breeder from who we took her told us that she was a pedigree from a German shepherd. Of course, I was na�ve to believe it as a 12-year-old little girl. A couple of months later it turned out she was not a pedigree. The longer we looked the bigger difference was between the German shepherd and her. Even though the breeder was from Germany, the father of Bessy was the dog from the neighbour – from the type LABRADOR RETRIEVER. So the beautiful hair she took after her father. Naturally, I didn’t care whether she was a pedigree or a mixture of two types, the most important thing was that she (BESSY) was mine.

      Bessy lived almost 8 and a half years with me of her life and I am very thankful for her. She taught me a lot of things, thanks to her I met a lot of new friends. Together we went through a lot of good and bad days. She was a mixture of two types, although she had a great body built. She guarded me even at the price of her life. She was a real friend of mine, friend for a lifetime.

      In the summer of 1997 we have passed an exhausting guarding test and my Bessy became first and at the same time the only guard dog in the near of Komarno town. Even today I remember that summer and I can say it stays in my memories forever. We went there only by ourselves – my beautiful BESSY and me. We went to the unknown. The training camp was set in Donovaly and we went there not knowing anyone. However, already the first day we have met a group of excellent people. The whole week we trained hard, exercises of tracks and footmarks, work in the woods, on the fields, in ruins and naturally taught politeness. I saw that the whole week my little Bessy was interested even though she was not the youngest dog around. She was over 8 years, but she took the whole training as a game. Every night there was a bonfire. Nice evenings, the outbreaks and springing of the flames, guitar songs, singing with friends… Love, piece and understanding was felt in the air. I just wish I could turn back time. By the end of the week the weather got worse. It started to rain. Testing continued throughout the rainy days, which lasted three days. Day by day we returned to the chalet all wet, but it didn’t matter to us. We did it, because we like dogs, and we like guarding as a whole. Many people did not pass the exams. It is true they were a little bit disappointed, but never gave up. They decided to try it the next time. And that’s important! We passed our exams with excellent marks. I was proud of her and still am with good reason I think. She was a mixture and proved it to all people that she can do it. Besides that, she passed the tests of ZM, SVV1, and reached a 3^rd place in the beauty contest and at the same time she became the first guard dog in the town Komarno.

      Even though in September 1997 it happened, what I never wanted to allow, my friend Bessy got very ill. We took her to the pet veterinary, which could not define the exact problem with Bessy. The vet gave her injections and infusions, which were of no good and unfortunately my little Bessy was dying in front of my eyes. After two days we spoke to veterinary in Nova Straz who found a very bad infection – babezia. A tick infected her. These people were the ones who did everything for my little Bessy, they tried everything that they could with all the effort and strength they had. It was too late. Her kidneys gave up and her liver was injured. She was in a very bad situation and I didn’t want to think about the worst. I didn’t want to believe that my little Bessy dies. The 26^th of September 1997 in the morning I had to decide myself. I had to make the hardest decision of my life. Friday morning Bessy got a pancreatitis and suffered very badly. I did not want to let her, but I din not have a choice. I could not be selfish and let her suffer. That morning I said to my beautiful and best friend the last good bye.

      She was for me everything and I know only those people can understand this who have already experienced it in their lives. I can state without remorse that she meant for me the same as the child to a mother. I will never ever forget the last expression of her eyes. I am thankful for every moment we lived through together in our lives and I never forgive myself that I could not help her. God bless you my little Bessy! I can only hope, that once we will meet again.I hope that there is piece, love, understanding and there pain, fear and congestion are unknown. God bless you my little Bessy!
